There's a private room that seats 15, a three-course set menu for groups up to 45, and space for up to 65 when guests are standing and moving around. Birthdays, work functions and large family lunches all work here.
How groups are seated
The numbers depend on whether your group is seated or moving around.
The private room
A separate room inside the restaurant, towards the back. It's generally used for birthdays and work dinners, and it's quieter than the main dining room.
Seated, set menu
Everyone seated, with three courses served to the whole group at once. This is usually the better option for sit-down celebrations, since the kitchen sends the food out together.
Casual, standing
Guests mingle and move around rather than everyone being seated, with finger food and drinks. Your group gets a section of the restaurant, which stays open to other diners.

Menus for groups
What's available at each group size.
Most of our menu is designed to be shared, so smaller groups don't need any special arrangement. You can book and order from the regular menu like any other table. Larger groups need a bit more planning, mainly for timing reasons: when twenty-five or more separate orders come in at once, the food slows down for your group and for other diners.
Up to 19 guests
Order à la carte from the regular menu. There's nothing else to arrange.
20–25 guests
A set menu is encouraged to keep service moving. If your group would rather order à la carte, that's usually fine, though we'll ask you to pre-order in advance so the kitchen can prepare.
More than 25 guests
A set menu is compulsory.

Seated groups, up to 45 guests.
Finger food menu
Casual, standing groups, up to 65 guests.
Platters
Any of our platters can be added to a group menu at extra cost.
Drinks and nibbles only

Deposits, cakeage and decorations
The things people most often ask about before booking.
No room hire, no booking fee
There's no charge to book a space and no room hire fee, including for the private room. Large group bookings take a $200 deposit, which is refundable. A minimum spend of $40 per guest applies to larger groups not on a set menu.
Bring your own cake
You're welcome to bring a birthday or celebration cake. Cakeage is $10. Let us know when you book and we'll bring it out when you're ready.
Decorations
Table decorations are fine. Nothing can be attached to the walls, ceilings or deck blinds, including blu-tack and tape. We also ask that decorations stay on your tables and don't get in the way of other guests.
Exclusive hire and seasonal capacity
We don't offer exclusive hire of the whole restaurant. Large groups are set up in a section of the restaurant, and it stays open to other diners. For most groups this works fine, since the space is large enough that a big group sits comfortably on its own, but if you need the venue entirely to yourself we're probably not the right fit. There's also a three hour limit on larger group bookings.
Capacity changes with the season. The larger numbers depend on the outdoor courtyard being usable, and we can't seat people out there through winter or in wet weather, so the maximum for large casual groups drops. If you're planning something big in the middle of winter, get in touch early and we'll let you know what's workable.

What is the largest group you can seat?
Up to 65 guests for a casual booking where people mingle and move around, and up to 45 for a seated three-course set menu. Capacity depends on the season, since we can't use the outdoor area in winter or wet weather, which brings the maximum for large casual groups down.
Do you have a private room?
Yes. It's a room inside the restaurant that fits 15 guests, and you can book it. Because online bookings are capped at 9, the private room is booked by calling (09) 835 9904 or emailing bookings@bodegaeatery.co.nz.
Can I hire out the whole restaurant?

Can we bring kids, or the dog?
Both. There's a children's menu and a grass field out the back (more on family dining), and dogs are welcome in the covered courtyard on a lead — call us first so we can check there's space for them (bringing your dog).
